Course Description: OST 1581 Professional Development in the Work Environment — 3 Credit Hours

This course is designed to pro vide techniques for the development of people skills essential for job success. Topics include developing a professional image, ethics, time management, human relations and communications skills, organizational dynamics, employability skills, conflict management skills and money management. Three contact hours. A.S., A.A.S.

Grading Scale:

 

A = 90-100

B = 80-89

C = 70-79

D = 60-69

FN = Failure due to non-attendance (Students must log on as least once each week)

F = 59 or below

 

Homework:

There are 16 assignments (one for each chapter) and the average of these assignments represents 40% of the final grade for the course. No late assignments will be accepted after the due date for the assignment has expired. There are 5 discussion topics that students must respond to, which are counted as 10% of final grade for participation.

Tests:

There are 16 quizzes (one for each chapter) and the average quiz score represents 40% of the final grade. The Midterm Exam is weighted at 5% and the Final Exam is weighted at 5%.

 

Make-up tests:

Quizzes cannot be re-taken; however, students will be able to make-up quizzes missed because of emergencies or documented technical difficulties.

Academic Dishonesty:

Any student suspected or caught copying and/or swapping files, papers, software, etc. will be given a grade of F.
