Achieving Reading Goals

In addition to the work we are doing to improve reading skills in For Your Information, we will be taking advantage of materials offered through FCCJ’s subscription to Townsend Press, the major supplier for FCCJ’s reading prep courses.

As you may know, once you have successfully completed EAP 1620, you will be eligible to take the CPT for reading. Your performance on this test will determine whether you can move on to take regular college courses or whether you must take additional preparatory reading courses, such as REA 0006 -  Basic Reading Skills, REA 0008 -  Reading Skills, REA 0010 - Introduction to Reading Techniques, and REA 1105 - College Reading/Critical Analysis.

It is my goal for you to TEST OUT of all of the above-mentioned reading courses so that you can SAVE $$ and move on to achieving your ultimate academic goals more quickly. Of course, should you need more practice in reading before moving on to taking college courses which involve critical reading skills, the above-mentioned courses will help you in that area.

That being said, let’s all work VERY HARD to improve your reading skills as much as we possibly can over the course of this semester.

Click HERE to go to the Table of Contents listing the reading skills we’ll be practicing as well as the timetable and links to exercises.
